Financing demand for business development in Vietnam is expected to be significant in the coming years to support economic growth and to reduce the reliance on medium- and long-term capital from the banking system. Debt capital, including corporate bonds, has been becoming more important as a financing source for Vietnamese enterprises. The size of the corporate bond market reached 11% of GDP by the end of 2023 and is expected to be a major source of capital for businesses as the Vietnamese government has set a target to increase the size to 20% of GDP by 2025 and 30% by 2030 as per the Master Plan on Securities Market Development approved on December 29, 2023.
