5 key solution areas to expand the investor base for Vietnam’s Fund Management industry

With a target of2.5 million fund investors by 2030, Vietnam’s fund management industry has significant room for expansion. Realising this potential requires efforts to broaden the investor base alongside building trust and fostering long-term investment habits through professionally managed funds.

• Strengthen infrastructure to support greater scale: Connections among fund management companies, supervisory banks, distributors and market infrastructure need to become more seamless. Reliable financial data and standardised processes provide the foundation for effective AI adoption and automation, supporting decision-making, reducing manual tasks and strengthening operational controls.
• Develop a more professional investor base focused on long-term asset allocation:Financial advice should start with investors’ financial goals and risk tolerance, rather than comparisons of short-term returns. Financial education and disciplined investing can help gradually channel savings into professionally managed funds and financial institutions, creating more stable capital flows for the market.
• Enhance fund distribution and develop a professional financial advisory workforce: Expanding distribution networks should go hand in hand with standardising advisers’ competencies and responsibilities. Technology can broaden customer reach, while the quality of advice helps investors select suitable products and stay committed to their investment plans.
