FiinGroup Connects M&A Knowledge with Practice for Banking Academy of Vietnam Students

With the aim of developing a well-rounded next generation of finance professionals, FiinGroup participated in the seminar “M&A Transactions in Vietnam: An Insider’s Perspective” on 16 October, organised by the Faculty of Finance, Banking Academy of Vietnam.

Mr. Le Xuan Dong, Managing Director, Market Research & Advisory, FiinGroup, shared insights drawn from his practical experience in research, due diligence and transaction advisory, helping students better understand how to apply their technical knowledge to transaction analysis, due diligence and execution.

From the transaction process to the challenges of conducting due diligence on target companies, the presentation offered students a practical understanding of how an M&A deal unfolds and how financial knowledge, data and market insights can be combined to assess investment opportunities.

Drawing on observations from advisory engagements, the discussion broadened students’ perspectives on factors affecting business prospects and investor decisions, including digital transformation, supply chain disruption and ESG. These insights also highlighted the importance of keeping their knowledge up to date and placing financial analysis within a real business context.

During the Q&A session, students’ questions extended the discussion to the application of AI in analysis and advisory work. Mr. Đồng emphasised that AI can improve efficiency when used with reliable data. Professionals must still verify information, maintain independent analytical judgement and take responsibility for the final results.

From a skills development perspective, Ms. Nguyen Thanh Huyen – Human Resources Officer, FiinGroup, shared further insights into data skills and the value of gaining practical experience while still at university. Her comments helped students understand how to translate knowledge into workplace skills, with the ability to learn and solve problems forming a foundation for meeting the demands of the finance industry.

By sharing experience with the academic community, FiinGroup contributes to narrowing the gap between education and market practice, helping students deepen their understanding of M&A and make informed choices about their studies and skills development.
