Vietnam now has nearly 14 million securities accounts, yet most investors still trade directly rather than investing through professionally managed funds.

So what is preventing fund products from reaching a broader investor base?

  • At the panel discussion,Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hang Nga, CEO of Vietcombank Fund Management (VCBF), argued that this gap does not stem from a shortage of products. The real challenge lies in bringing products to investors, along with the information and advisory support that help them understand the products before investing.
  • Mrs. Nga also pointed out that current distribution channels consist mainly of fund management companies, securities companies, and a few digital platforms, which limits their reach. With their extensive networks and established client relationships, commercial banks were highlighted as a channel with the potential to bring fund products to more investors.
  • Advisory quality also plays an important role in helping clients understand the benefits, risks, and actual results of investing through funds. In addition, according to Mrs. Nga, tax incentives could provide further motivation for investors to participate and stay invested for the long term.

From this perspective, the Vietnam Fund Awards program not only recognizes funds with outstanding results, but also provides a reference for the risk-adjusted performance and consistency of securities investment funds.

This is also part of FiinGroup’s role: contributing data, analytics, and reference benchmarks to support fund management companies, distribution teams, and investors in researching, comparing, and making investment decisions.
